Aerospace engineering funding project
norelem supports the HTL Rennweg in Austria with the implementation of a very exciting project for the safe manoeuvring of single-engine aircraft by individuals.
Thanks to “Towy”, as the students call the developed aircraft shunting trolley, a single user can fully concentrate on the safety and possible dangers of a collision instead of moving the aircraft to the respective parking position under pressure. Thus, safety can be increased from the landing of the aircraft up to the final parking position.
By using our standard and operating parts, the nose wheel of the aircraft is lifted and firmly fixed by a special mechanism. The ability of the aircraft shunting trolley to travel in two directions and to perform curve movement are ensured by drive elements.
‚Towy’ – the aircraft shunting trolley developed by students of HTL Rennweg
The operation is mostly driven via remote control, which allows fine control inputs and throttling of the speed. The line-following system used ensures an optimal automatic mode. In the further development of the project, optional automated operation should further facilitate operability and thus further increase safety.
Standard parts in the project
By using four norelem idler sprockets, the correct chain tension of the shunting trolley can be set. This improves the function of the drive, reduces chain play and wear and increases the service life of the chain.
