norelem take part at the launch of the new racing car

In China norelem supports colleges and universities and their young engineers with know-how and quality products for the development and production of lightweight racing cars.

From 2020, norelem has been working closely with the Tongji Yichi Team (China), founded in 2007. The racing team is led by Professor Li Guang from the Faculty of Automotive Engineering and is independently operated and managed by the students. The team members of the Yichi Team consist mainly of students from the Faculty of Automotive Engineering and from the various universities of the Jiading Campus.

Every year the Yichi Racing Team takes part in Formula Student competitions both in China and abroad. The team has achieved excellent results in the past, including winning the 2016 and 2019 championships in China. Following 10 years of experience and continuous development, the Yichi Team is now one of the leading teams in international competition.

In the latest Formula Student Team World Ranking List, the team occupies 13th place and is the best placed Chinese team. In addition to the excellent racing results, the Yichi Team has produced a number of outstanding young designers. The expertise gained there is to be put to optimum use in automotive and vehicle technology.

On 13 October 2020 the launch of the new racing bolide TR20 took place at the Tongji University – and norelem took part! Represented by the managing director of norelem China, we were able to learn about the technological innovations developed by the students: new drive systems, new aerodynamics, an optimised suspension and an update of the electronic engine control. Sound exciting? We think so too!

The new TR20 vehicle will be used in the China Formula Student Race 2020 in November and we can’t wait to see it in action. We are delighted to be supporting such a highly motivated team and are already keeping our fingers crossed for their continued success.
