norelem Race Camp 2018
Round 3 for the norelem Race Camp 2018
Three days, 16 vehicles and more than 500 students – that was the norelem Race Camp 2018. norelem welcomed 16 of the roughly 50 sponsored teams to the race track in Steißlingen on Lake Constance from 20 – 22 June.
Even bigger and even better than before – this is the goal norelem had set itself for this year’s Race Camp. The event was held for the third time this year. The teams worked through different static and dynamic disciplines and were able to share their experiences with the other teams. In addition to technical expertise, a robust knowledge of organisation, project management and financing was also important in order to deliver a winning performance at the international competitions. In order to ensure optimal testing opportunities for the significantly higher number of participants, the test event was extended to three days. In addition to the test track for combustion and electric vehicles, there was a separate track for the so-called “driverless” vehicles (autonomous driving) for the first time. This category was introduced for last year’s Formula Student competitions and was, therefore, an integral part of the norelem Race Camp. One particular highlight was the workshop covering the topic of “Business Plan”. On day 2, Dr Martin Morgenstern – evolutionary psychologist and expert for mental strength and stress management – gave the teams valuable tips and suggestions on how they can deliver a strong rhetorical performance and go on to inspire the judges with their pitch.
