norelem moves robotics project
Three robotics students at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien have developed a mobile robot that can perform a wide range of tasks in industry. In the first stage, the team carried out the design, production and assembly steps independently and also used numerous components from norelem. norelem supported the financing of the project and the procurement of the required hardware. In the next step, the students will programme the robot so that it is ready for a variety of applications.
The robot can be manoeuvred freely with the two powered wheels and four swivel castors. The swivel castors are mounted on ball bearings, resulting in smooth running with low rolling resistance. The plain bearings in conjunction with the shoulder screws create an articulated joint. The three joints are necessary so that the robot is not over defined and can easily overcome uneven surfaces and small obstacles. The emergency stop button allows the robot to be switched off immediately if necessary. The handy tubular handles are used to transport the robot to the next location and also to reorient it if it gets off course.
